OUR STORY
Lights On Theatre was born in 2021 with our first production, The Beasts. A collaboration between mezzo soprano Olivia Sanders Robinson and screenwriter Samuel Herriman, this production connected shadow puppetry and classical art song within the framework of a modern text. Working on The Beasts we discovered the potential of using shadow puppetry as a vehicle for the creation of inclusive, high quality art which could connect new audiences with opera and art songs. Our initiative was formally established by our core team: Olivia Sanders Robinson (Creator and Artistic Director) and Sarah Ampil (Producer). We look forward to exploring the intricacies of classical vocal music in our upcoming productions, expanding our work to include educational outreach, accessibility and working to make classical music inclusive for all audiences.
OUR MISSION
Lights On Theatre aims to share the funny, tragic and relatable stories of opera and art song through the combed forces of shadow puppetry, classical music and text. In creating high quality work that can be enjoyed across multiple platforms, toured to numerous locations, and tailored to various audiences we intend to share classical music in a way that is accessible to people from all walks of life.
