MISS HAVISHAM'S

WEDDING NIGHT

11 - 14 September, 7:30pm

Chippen Street Theatre

Two Australian premieres feature in a musical exploration of failure, shame and love gone wrong through Dickens' infamous Miss Havisham.

Love, betrayal and a woman haunted by the ghosts of her past.

Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night is a glimpse into the psyche of Dickens’ famous jilted bride as she wrestles with the psychological torment of betrayal. This one act, one woman opera combines Lights On Theatre’s unique style of shadow puppetry with Pulitzer Prize winning composer Dominick Argento’s commanding score to shine new light on a misunderstood character. This season of Miss Havisham's Wedding Night will also feature Pamphilia to Amphilanthus, and original song cycle by award-winning Sydney-based composer Jorde Heys. Set to the sonnets of the groundbreaking 16th Century poet Lady Mary Wroth, Heys' songs are a response to Argento's work and complement the original material.

Cast/Creatives: Elizabeth Cooper, Sophie Rogut, Sarah Ampil, Nathaniel Kong, George Wohlfiel, Victoria Abbott, Jacqueline Chapman, Jay Daniel, Samuel Herriman and Spark Sanders Robinson
